My latest heroine is a botanist. And a reluctant werewolf.

Elle Greenaway works at the Chelsea Physic Garden in London.

What is a physic garden you ask? It's a garden filled with medicinal herbs and plants. Many of the magical elixers and cures in these plants are still used today. The walled garden was founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries for its apprentices to study the medicinal qualities of plants and it became one of the most important centres of botany and plant exchange in the world. Today, as an independent charity the garden relies on the support of visitors and friends to help protect and nurture the garden for future generations.

A little backstory on Elle, just to tantilize readers. Elle's father was head gardener for a large estate in Surrey. He died from a lethal level of aconitum exposure (wolfsbane). But…beyond her father's tragic death, there are other reasons Elle is interested in dangerous medicinal herbs and poisons.

One night, while waiting for a train in the Covent Garden tube station, she witnesses a mauling by a creature who is more wolf than dog. The very next day, she is questioned by handsome, enigmatic Detective Inspector Abelseth Durant. Determined to solve the murder, his first instinct is that Elle knows more than she's telling…
